The Third Secret of Fatima Statue

$95.00

We made our own version of Fátima (or apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary) with a half skull face. It is made of cast stone which we hand paint in an antiqued style. It measures approximately 20 inches tall by 6 inches across and 4.25 inches deep. The inscription on the base is Latin and was used in the 1500s. It translates: This is beauty and this is what remains of it. This law applies to all human beings. The rosary which we have antiqued and has a golden skull bead is included. It's brand new and made in the USA.

The Three Secrets of Fátima consist of a series of visions and prophecies given by an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three young Portuguese shepherds, starting on 13 May 1917. The three children claimed to have been visited by a Marian apparition six times between May and October 1917. The apparition is now popularly known as Our Lady of Fátima. According to the official interpretation, the three secrets involve; Hell, World War I and World War II, and the shooting of Pope John Paul II. But there is some mystery and controversy over the third and final secret. In 1943, the last of the witnesses fell ill with influenza and was implored by a Bishop to write down the secret to ensure that it would be recorded in the event of her death. She was hesitant to do so because she had heard Mary say not to reveal it until 1960. Finally she obeyed a direct order from the Bishop. The Holy See withheld the Third Secret until 26 June 2000, much later than when it should have been revealed. Then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, (now Pope Benedict XVI), published a theological commentary, in which he stated: A careful reading of the text of the so-called third 'secret' of Fatima ... will probably prove disappointing or surprising after all the speculation it has stirred. No great mystery is revealed; nor is the future unveiled.

Portuguese Catholics responded to the release of the text with disbelief, saying that if the words did not concern some kind of terrible catastrophe such as war, holocaust or apocalypse, there had been no reason for the Vatican to keep them secret. Some sources claim that the four-page, handwritten text of the Third Secret released by the Vatican in the year 2000 is not the real secret, or at least not the full secret. These sources contend that the Third Secret is actually composed of two texts, where one of these texts is the published four-page vision, and the other is a single-page letter containing the words of the Virgin Mary that has been concealed.
