Danger de Mort Poison Bottle Stopper
$22.95
You will only find this very original, intricate bottle stopper here! We sculpted and cast this piece in the finest lead-free pewter. The stopper measures approximately 1.75 inches tall from top of head and including the cork and 1 inch wide across the base. This would be a great addition for any apothecary. Made in the USA. Glass container is included and measures approximately 3.5 inches across the middle, 4.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches deep.
Throughout history, poison bottles were made in unique shapes and colors to distinguish them from food or medicine bottles. Skulls were commonly used as they are the most recognized symbol of death. The pirate flag's skull and crossbones was often used on poison labels staring in the mid 1800s. Toward the end of the century, bottles were embossed with this image. We sculpted our own version of a poison bottle stopper that is reminiscent of old time anatomical illustrations or artistic studies of the human body.
